Syracuse tied Clemson tonight 1-1. The Tigers went up early on, but a late goal by Jenna Tivnan leveled the game.
Head Coach Nicky Adams credits the win to the defensive effort.
“From top to bottom our defending was really good. It’s planned. It’s not us just throwing girls out there and man marking. We are trying to do something very specific and our team is nailing it right now. It is amazing to see 10 girls on that field doing their job and it’s forcing other teams to play where we want them to,” Adams said.
A big part of that defense, Jenna Tivnan said people need to watch out for this SU squad.
“We’ve been gritty. People keep counting us out. We are annoyed that people keep saying that Syracuse is a team to walk over. We knew what we had to do in this game to keep winning and keep fighting. Don’t count us out anymore. We’ll keep that in the back of our heads,” Tivnan said.
Next up Syracuse will travel to No. 3 Pittsburgh on Thursday.
