Syracuse Women’s Ice Hockey and Boston University Go Pound for Pound in a 4-4 Tie

Tonight, Syracuse and Boston University found themselves in a dog fight at the Walter Brown Arena in a game that ended in a 4-4 tie. Both teams went blow for blow in a game that seemed destined to find a winner. While Hockey East non-conference rules prevent such a winner in shootouts, the result feels just as sweet for head coach Britni Smith and company.

“Just really proud of our effort. That’s a game right there with a team that could end up being top-10, top-15 at the end of the year. I thought we did a great job of just sticking to our game plan. We go ahead, then we go behind, then we fall behind again, but I don’t think we had panic at all. We just stuck to our guts and a huge kinda battle win for us.”

“I think the group has incredible [resilience]. We’re ready to face any obstacle we get and I think most importantly everyone in that dressing room knows what their role is and carries it out perfectly. 8 games into the season, the 9th tonight, I think if we just keep sticking to our roles and buying into our systems, I think we’ll be very successful.

The contest might have provided a little deja vu for some of SU’s upperclassmen. The Orange and Terriers went a 3-3 draw just last season in the first meeting between the schools in program history. Maybe third times a charm for Syracuse tomorrow, as it squares off with BU once again at 3:00 o’clock.
