SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Syracuse’s women’s tennis team lost to Brown University 1-6 Sunday afternoon. One bright spot on the afternoon was freshman Miranda Ramirez, who was the only Orange player able to win her singles match.
“I felt like I was playing well and I knew I could pull of the match,” said Ramirez. “I was adjusting very well to when the momentum was changing. Whenever she started to play really aggressive, I was able to pay attention and play more defensively. It was seeing how my defendant was playing and using it to my advantage.”
This was Ramirez’s fifth win of the season.
SU’s coach Younes Limam also was also pleased with Ramirez’s play.
“I think Miranda has been an unbelievable addition,” said Limam. “She plays with a lot of heart and is also very talented. She leads by example.”
In doubles at the number two spot, Gabriela Knutson and Anna Shkudon, won their match 6-1. They were the only pair to win at doubles for Syracuse as, Nicole Mitchell and Maria Tritou at the first spot lost their match 2-6.
