Syracuse softball dominated by Clemson, 15-0

Disappointed, frustrated, and without any answers, Syracuse softball was swept by Clemson this weekend. The Orange fell to the Tigers 15-0 on Sunday. And in the series, SU was outscored 33-1. ‘Cuse head coach Shannon Doepking describes the laundry list of things that went wrong for her team over these past three games.

“Yeah, I mean what we’re doing isn’t working, right? So who really cares what it looks like at this point? We’re just trying to find the winning combination, you know, we;re just pulling names out of a hat right now, we’re just trying to find out what works best for kids. There’s no rhyme or reason for why we’re doing what we’re doing. We just know what we’re doing right now isn’t working and something’s gotta give, so if we have to try something different and put some kids in some different positions, maybe they get some better pitches, obviously that’s what we’re trying to do.”

Meanwhile, for Clemson, leadoff hitter Alex Brown went off this weekend going 10-for-10 at the dish, and reaching base in all 13 of her plate appearances. That was all highlighted by a three-run home run today. For Syracuse to get back in the win column, it can do that at Le Moyne this week. The Orange and the Dolphins play a doubleheader on Wednesday with first pitch at 3 p.m. For now though reporting from Skytop Softball Stadium, Cole Purvis, CitrusTV.
