Syracuse Rebounds from Cold Stretch to take down Canisius

For the first time in 23 days, Syracuse Men’s Soccer is finally back in the win column. SU beat Canisius 5-1 in a game where fans were dying to see some Orange production. And they didn’t have to wait very long. Two and half minutes into the contest, Gabe Threadgold found the back of the net. He was one of five goal scorers. Everybody had their share of the cake and for head coach Ian McIntyre, that was all a part of the game plan. To get everybody involved.

“Last time we played a regional team we had the disappointment of the Le Moyne game. It wasn’t that we played particularly bad, we just didn’t take our chances but tonight we did,” McIntyre said. “We created a lot of good chances. We started the game really well and we took that chance. When you take that chance, it just kind of alleviates some of that tension, that pressure, and that allows you to play a normal game.”

The team will enjoy the win, at least for tonight before the attention trunks back to the ACC slate. SU travels down to take on Louisville Friday at 7. The Cardinals come in 4-2 on the year, with an upset over 16th ranked Kentucky.
