Syracuse Mens Soccer Wins Season Opener 2-0
Tonight was a special occasion here at the SU soccer stadium as the 2022 National Championship Team and ACC Championship team were honored with a banner raising ceremony. The orange picked up right where they left off with a two nil dominating victory over Providence, and that all started in the very beginning. In the first 20 minutes, SU scored both of its goals.
“Any opportunity to to bring, you know, a trophy or trophies back to Syracuse and the year we had. The moment was great.” Head coach Ian McIntyre said, “Now having said that, you always it’s like senior night when you do it, you’re always worried that you’ve got you know, you’ve got a job to do and you got business afterwards. So, I asked the guys to try to give the crowd that was going to come here something to enjoy. And so I was very happy with the way that we started,
Talking about his first goal, Lorenzo Boselli said, “Nick made a first post run, so I knew that the space was right behind him. And as soon as I saw the center sent it back going with him, I knew the ball was going to come where I was. And just about right time, right place.”
Through the three exhibition matches and now the first regular season match. SU has still yet to give up a single goal. They’ll look to keep that momentum going on Monday when the orange take on in-state foe Binghamton. Kickoff is at seven. Reporting from the SU soccer stadium, Adam Gotkin, Citrus TV.
