Syracuse Men’s Soccer takes a trip down South and falls to 3rd Ranked Clemson
Syracuse Men’s Soccer this season has been the definition of consistently inconsistent. One game the Orange will score 5 goals, the next they will get shut out. Another game, SU will pitch shut out and then in games like tonight, Syracuse will allow six goals in route to a 6-1 loss to 3rd ranked Clemson. The Tigers dominated from start to finish. Clemson tripled SU in shots 16 to 5 and scored a goal in each of the first 2 1/2 minutes of both halves. Even after the disappointing match, Syracuse head coach Ian McIntyre could only point out that at the end of the day this will make his team even stronger down the stretch.
“We are learning hard and harsh lessons in big moments in big games and you wanna plan this environment. And when we get through this and we will get through this with this group, they will enjoy some good moments. We got some good young players and when we get through it, we will as difficult as may sound right now, we will get better because of nights like this.”
Tonight marked the final road match of the regular season for the Orange with the final home match coming next Friday when you Syracuse hosts 2nd ranked Pitt from SU Soccer Stadium at 7. The Panthers have dominated the competition at 12-3, with five ranked wins on the season.
