Syracuse Mens Lacrosse handles Utah 15-5

It was a fiery start for 11th ranked Syracuse Men’s lacrosse in a 15-5 win over Utah this afternoon. The Orange potted 7 first quarter goals, the most that SU has put up in the first 15 minutes this season. That first quarter domination translated to the second quarter, where SU led 11-1 at the break.

Wyatt Hottle: I think just moving the ball and taking the best opportunity and not the first opportunity. You know, I think sometimes we were settling for the first shot and not the best shot and today and all week I thought we did a great job moving the ball around, getting it to our second dodge and not our first, and just spinning the ball. When the rocks spinning on this team you know, we can be really good.

Gary Gait: We just got to continue to work on consistency and discipline for 60 minutes. And that’s done through practice, it’s how you live everyday, what you do and how you act. We’re going to continue what we’ve been doing this season and hopefully we can get better at finishing 60 minutes.

It’s been a struggle in the second half as of late for Syracuse, with the Orange mustering just 10 goals in the final 30 minutes over their last three games. SU seeks to change against #6 Johns Hopkins on Sunday. The Orange and Blue Jays are slated to face off in the dome at 2.
