Syracuse Men’s Basketball fails to contain a dominant Duke offense in 83-54 loss
Sean Dempsey: Syracuse vs Duke… a rivalry over the past decade between coach K and coach Boeheim… but is it really a rivalry? Well it certainly didn’t feel like that today in Syracuse’s 83 to 54 loss to number 2 ranked Duke. The worst loss ever against Duke. A big reason for that today was freshman phenom Cooper Flagg. Flagg finished with 11 points and 5 rebounds. And after the game Duke head coach Jon Scheyer praised his freshman for his performance.
Jon Scheyer: I get mad at Coop because when he gets some separation he wants everyone else to step up. But I think that’s what makes him special. Tonight he hit some great passes that I didn’t think lead to assists I thought, but someone else getting the shot. It says a lot for our team. He loves the fact that other guys were getting their shots. For me I always want him to get more shots, but no problems with him.
Sean Dempsey: Cooper Flagg is projected to be the number one overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. Syracuse is now one and ten in their last 11 matchups with the Blue Devils. SU hopes to turn things around in its next matchup on Saturday against Boston College. Tip off for that one is just after 3. Reporting from the JMA Wireless Dome, Sean Dempsey CitrusTV.
