]Syracuse Ice Hockey Gets Swept Ahead of Conference Play

Nine non conference games end with seven consecutive losses after Syracuse ice hockey falls to Boston University, three two today. Now, while this non-con slate may include Syracuse’s largest losing streak since 2019, head coach Brittany Smith is actually pleased with how this year has started.

“We believe we’re far more prepared right now for conference play than we were at this time last year, and that’s a huge piece of our process. And yes, we’d like to see a win this weekend, but really happy with our play and really excited to see what that gives us in conference play this weekend.”

Syracuse’s grit has been on full display. Yesterday, SU out shot BU and tonight, the Orange were in it against the Terriers until the buzzers sounded. Forward Tatum White feels that toughness will be necessary for the rest of the season.

“I think conference play is just a totally different game. Every game we play the same team four times in conference, so every game is like a playoff game really prepares us for the playoffs, so it’s just going to be a battle every night. There’s no team in our conference that is going to be an easy game.”

Syracuse heads into conference play at two and seven. It will start AHA games at 13th ranked Penn State next Thursday. Reporting from Tennity Ice Pavilion. John Boccio, Citrus TV
