SU MLAX takes down Vermont 13-5

Tonight in second ranked Syracuse men’s lacrosse’s thirteen five win over Vermont, seven different SU players tallied a point, yet one stood out from the rest. Attackman Joey Spallina finished the day with a career tying 10 points. All 10 of those came within the first forty five minutes of this game. And for Vermont head coach Chris Feifs, there was simply no stopping Spallina.

“I mean, he’s got odds in the back of his head. He’s so savvy. His game has developed a ton, and he’s working above goal line a lot more now than he used to. And I think it’s really expanded his his ability, you know, to be a a distributor, but also a role scorer. And he just lets the game come to him, and I think that’s really evident from his freshman year to now. It’s fun to watch him, kinda work straight the offense.”

“This year, you know, I’m kinda just letting the game come to me more. And, you know, I have great teammates and great guys that are around me, you know, that are able to help set me up. You know, I think me and coach have been talking about it. You know, I kinda just move my feet more when I’m shooting and, you know, kind of attacking the ball, I think, in the past, and I’ve been kinda waiting for it to come to me. And, you know, I think this year, I’ve I’ve been, you know, definitely better at, attacking the pass and getting a better angle on the goal and, you know, kind of being able to move the goalie.”

Spallina has now scored at least 15 points in his first two games in back to back seasons. The junior seeks to keep his stick hot come Monday against Towson. The Orange and Tigers last faced each other in the first round of the NCAA tournament last year. Spallina led all scores with eight points in that game.
