No. 8 Syracuse Womens Lacrosse takes down Virginia 13-12 on historic day.
Milo Hoffman: On senior day inside the dome, number seven Syracuse women’s lacrosse took down Virginia 13-12 for its fourth straight victory. But a big storyline from this one was from grad student Emma Ward. The attacker became the seventh player in SU history to ever get 300 career points.
Kayla Treanor: She’s just had an amazing career here. She’s just been battling it out all year for us and just been a great teammate and great leader and I’m just really proud of her.
Emma Ward: It’s pretty cool and I think I’m someone who believes everything happens for a reason and pretty cool to be able to be in the dome. Last game I’ll play here and to hit that milestone with such an amazing group and such an amazing game. It’s just, it’s an honor and I’ve loved every moment I’ve gotten to wear the block S and there were a couple of hard moments, a couple of hard years, but this is what it’s all about. And we’re on a roll right now, so just got to keep it rolling.
Hoffman: In true Emma Ward fashion, the grad student achieved the milestone on an assist to Molly Guzik in the third quarter, one of three dimes the attacker had on the day, a category she ranks top 15 nationally in. The next chance for Emma Ward to keep feeding her teammates is on Wednesday when SU battles number 10 Yale. Opening draw is slated for 2 p.m. But for now, reporting from the JMA Wireless Dome, Milo Hoffman, Citrus TV.
