No. 19 Pitt Annihilates Syracuse 41-13 Behind Three Pick Sixes

Kyle McCord’s first half against No. 19 Pitt was historic. SU’s gunslinger tossed for three touchdowns – pretty impressive. But unfortunately, they were to the other team, and the Panthers stormed by Syracuse 41-13. It’s just the sixth time that an FBS defense has returned three interceptions for touchdowns since 2000, and despite the poor performance tonight, McCord and SU have their chins held up high.
“I’ve never at any level of football, got beat like this. When you lose a game like this in the way that we did, we have to continue to build on those winning habits. And I think that’s been a problem here in the past. Things go south, and I think you know guys see the season is over, but, I mean, the season’s far from over.”
“I’m not afraid. I’m confident in our staff, I’m confident in our football players, I’m confident in our… actually, I’m confident in our fan base that they’ll all be behind and see us push. I don’t see… you guys didn’t see a team that quit right when you watched the game. There was no quit in this, there was nothing like that. The football just didn’t go our way.”
Well with all those high hopes, SU is lucky that they don’t have to come back to Acrisure Stadium for the rest of the year. It’s a place that hasn’t treated them too well. Tonight’s loss… the worst since 2009, and if you go back to 2001, the Orange have lost 11 straight in this building. But up next for SU… a building much more comforting to them, the JMA Wireless Dome back in Syracuse. That’s where SU meets its next opponent, Virginia Tech next Saturday. But until then, reporting from Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Sam Corcoran, CitrusTV.
