No. 14 Syracuse field hockey takes down Stanford 3-0
In the first ever ACC matchup between #14 Syracuse field hockey and Stanford, the Orange came out on top 3-0. Midfielder Willemijn Boogert found the back of the net not once, but twice in the contest. The two goals marked the first brace of the year for the midfielder and for Head Coach Lynn Farquhar, She’s excited to be seeing Boogert excel out on the field.
“Well, two finishes. It’s always nice. I’ll have to tease her later. I told John she scored one more. She got in hat, so maybe next game. But yeah, with her presence in our press, the first line of defense is fantastic. And then her ability counter implemented a couple of things, been working on a training not only from this past week but beginning of season. So love her for doing that. She scored a goal at Penn State, very similar.”
“I think there’s just a lot of space these games. And I think my teammates are like, just giving me that space and the confidence to take those shots, go for it, strike on goal. So, I think it’s just total team that they just hype me up to go and go for it.”
Bogart has now scored in back-to-back games for the Orange for the second time this season. The weekend is just getting started for Syracuse as the welcome another West Coast opponent in Cal come Sunday. The Orange have only lost to the Golden Bears once in six tries.
