No. 10 Syracuse Men’s Lacrosse Trounces Manhattan 18-2

At the end of the first quarter, Syracuse Men’s Lacrosse had a zero in the scoring column, but then the floodgates opened on its way to an 18-2 victory over Manhattan. A 9-1 second quarter had propelled SU to the victory, and double-digit players had hit the scoring column.

“Well, we were playing well. Just, you know, look, see the net and hit the net. Don’t just shoot it at the goal. I thought the execution was excellent with tons of great looks. Dial in the shooting, see the way to the net, but the execution I thought was really good on the offense and really good on the D-end.”

While the Orange’s offensive performance was impressive, SU’s defensive performance might have taken the cake. Syracuse allowed just two goals, its least in a game since it played Army in 2016. Not to mention, the Orange gave up just nine shots on goal, the fewest it’s allowed all season long.

“You know, a great scout, great plan in place, and great execution from the entire defense, but also from the ride. You know, getting the ball back several times. He’s going to have a prepared defense that’s connected, right? There’s not going to miss assignments. So like, you know, you have to work really hard to get good shots off. And then you got to beat a good goalie in there.”

SU comes right back to the Dome on Saturday to face off against Colgate, where some milestones may be ahead. SU Attackman Joey Spallina and Owen Hiltz are a combined three points away from 200 on their respective careers. Reporting from the JMA Wireless Dome, John Boccio, Citrus TV.
