Miami outlasts Syracuse tennis 4-2 in a match for the ages

Drew Albaugh:

Nail biter was about the best way to describe Syracuse Tennis’s (7-3, 0-2 in ACC) four three loss to Miami (2-4, 1-0 in ACC). The orange started off the competition, losing the doubles point two sets to one, highlighted by number one pairing Miyuka Kimoto and Nelly Knezkova losing 7-5. What followed was a grueling three hour long competition in singles play. Tied at 3-3, a tie breaker was needed between SU senior Shiori Ito and Miami’s Xinyi Nong, but at the end of the day, it was the Hurricanes that survived the storm.

Anastasia Sysoeva:

I mean, of course, unfortunately we didn’t get the W, but like how we were just talking with the team. You know, we were that close and we were playing a good team. So that just means we gotta get that confidence from today’s loss and bring it on on Sunday and show what we’re what we’re made of.

Drew Albaugh:

With the loss, the Orange have now dropped three straight after starting the season seven and zero, and remain winless in ACC play. That could all change, though, this Sunday as SU takes on Florida State (10-1, in ACC) at 11 a.m..
