Syracuse Volleyball fell 3-0 to UCF earlier today. The loss puts the Orange at 0-3 this season. Syracuse will leave the UAlbany tournament, losing all nine sets it played by an average of nine points.
UCF dominated the match from start to finish. Once again, SU started slow. The Knights opened the first set on a 10-2 run and never looked back. Thanks to UCF’s brilliant serving, the Orange never got a foothold. Syracuse eventually dropped the first set 25-8.
The Orange started the second set much better, tying the score at three. However, it was all UCF from that point on. The Knights would go on a 22-6 run to win the set. UCF outscored Syracuse 50-17 in the first two sets. The Knights also managed to have 22 more kills than errors.
The third started much like the first. UCF controlled the match with dominant serving, leading to free points and easy kills. The Knights got up 13-3 and stayed solid. Syracuse cut the lead to single digits at one point, but it was too late. With one final kill UCF closed out the set and match.
The Knights finished the match with a staggering 39 kills, 32 assists, and 11 aces, more than doubling Syracuse’s total in every category. UCF also managed to only commit four errors compared to SU’s 15.
The Orange will have one week to prepare for the Kathy DeBoer Invitational in Michigan. SU will play three games in two days against Delaware State, Michigan, and Belmont.
