SU Plans to Make Residential Laundry Free Next Semester
By Lindsey Fine
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse University announced residential laundry will be free for students beginning in fall 2021
The first calls to make laundry free came years ago, the daily Orange wrote an opinion piece about it in 2019 and free laundry was part of NotAgainSU’s demands, the student association also pushed for free laundry
“It’s great, this is something that student leaders have been fighting for for years now,” Student Association President David Bruen said.
Freshman Anna Bochanski will be living in Booth next year and said the change will make doing laundry easier.
“”I might do laundry a little bit more often than I have this year because I won’t have to pay for it, so it’ll be more enticing,” Bochanski said.
Sophomore Brandon silver said SU making laundry free was the right move, but also that he wishes the school did it sooner.
“As a sophomore it kind of sucks for us because I’m not going to be in a dorm next year and I’ve had to pay for laundry for the past two years. I don’t know why that’s being done now, I’ve felt that way since I’ve been here. Laundry should be a free thing especially with how much we pay for tuition,” Silver said.
