Live at 6 | Syracuse Views Program
By Zachary Levine – Syracuse, N.Y. (CitrusTV) – Starting in 2015 as the offshoot of a social media campaign, Syracuse Views allows students, faculty, and other members of the SU community to share their Syracuse-related snaps with the rest of the community.
Whether it’s wearing SU gear on a summer trip or capturing the sunset from the promenade, there are so many great photo opportunities for Orange community members to share online.
Every weekday, photos submitted via an online form here, emailed to newsphoto@syr.edu, or posted on social media using #SyracuseU will have a chance to be shown online with the rest of the community. Every Friday, a Photo of the Week will be selected and sent out on the SU Today email, which reaches the entire campus.
The program is operated by the Syracuse University News department, located in the Women’s Building and overseen by Former News Anchor and Newhouse Professor Keith Kobland.
Ellen James Mbuqe is the Director of News and Public Relations at Syracuse University. She believes showing the beautiful legacy of SU connects us all.
“The reason why we started [Syracuse Views] is because we see Syracuse University members living and breathing the campus experience,” she said. “A lot of times they are showing that through their photos and sharing it online through social media.”
The program operates year-round and features images of Syracuse students at internships or traveling during the summer.
“We really wanted to get a chance to put all those images together, showcase it to the greater community, and they find a way to share it to a wider audience,” Mbuqe said.
