SYRACUSE, NY – Syracuse University’s Psi Upsilon fraternity was placed on interim suspension on Tuesday.  In an email sent to all students by Syracuse University’s Senior VP and Cheif Student Experience Officer Allen Groves, said they believe the fraternity engaged in “behavior [that] is degrading,”

“These allegations include reported conduct that may have placed students at risk, and which, as the Chancellor previously stated, may be both a serious violation of University policies and of New York State law,” said Groves.

CitrusTV first reported the allegations after the university Interfraternity Council, which oversees all fraternity activities, confirmed to the station that the Psi Upsilon fraternity was suspended until further notice.

This comes shortly after Syracuse University’s Phi Kappa Psi fraternity was suspended on October 16 after a gruesome alleged “hazing” video was leaked in what the university’s Chancellor Kent Syverud called “repugnant conduct” inside the suspected house.

In the video, two Phi Kappa Psi members are seen forcibly vomiting on an SU student lying on the floor. The video also shows another SU student tied to a pole with his mouth covered by tape.

The university community standards and the Department of Public Safety are investigating the allegations at Psi Upsilon and Phi Kappa Psi. The Syracuse Police Department was also notified, as members of both fraternities could face charges.
