The Syracuse University Art Museum and director Melissa Yuen recently introduced all-new exhibitions for the spring semester.
“Take Me to the Palace of Love” and “Dreams Deferred” are just two of five exhibitions the museum will have on display this season. The inspiration behind the exhibits was to invite minority groups in the Syracuse area to feel comfortable sharing their own stories regarding their identity and belonging. SU Art Museum director Yuen says, “Together, they used works of art from the museum’s collection to really think about, to really delve into the histories of this idea of freedom within the United States.”
Additionally, Rina Banerjee, creator of “Take Me to the Palace of Love,” will be on campus on February 23rd to talk more about her inspiration behind the artwork she sculpted for the exhibit.
Both SU students and the general public can view the exhibitions free of charge on Tuesdays-Sundays through commencement weekend. The museum’s hours can be found on their website, https://museum.syr.edu/visit/.
