Anna Azallion Syracuse, N.Y. (CitrusTV) – Syracuse University freshman, Will Scott, is working to bring XFL football to Syracuse.
The Xtreme Football League is making a comeback in 2020, thanks to WWE chairman and founder of Alpha Entertainment, Vince McMahon. There will be eight teams in cities from a variety of markets, according to XFL’s website.
Scott has taken many steps to secure a team for Syracuse. He made a video, wrote a letter to Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh, and appeared on a local radio show to talk about the possibility of Syracuse getting a team.
While watching McMahon’s announcement, Scott was on social media and noticed that no one was talking about the possibility of Syracuse getting a team. This is when Scott decided to try to create enthusiasm and make a video.
“We’re the only city out there that has like a hype video about the XFL coming to Syracuse,” Scott said.
Because of this, and the traction the video has gotten on XFL fan pages, Scott thinks McMahon might have seen it.
Syracuse is a smaller market for football, Scott said; however, he stays optimistic.
“A lot of people are saying the XFL wouldn’t work here. I say why not; why wouldn’t it work here?
