Thorpe played at Penn State for two years before transferring to South Florida. After sitting out for one year, Thorpe played his redshirt junior year at USF, before moving to Syracuse heading into this season.
In six games for the Orange, Thorpe scored 6.0 points per game while averaging just 14.3 minutes. The announcement comes after Thorpe played a season-low four minutes against Maryland.
Thorpe led South Florida in scoring and minutes last year before transferring to Syracuse.
