Syracuse Softball Bounces Back, Winning 6-0 at Le Moyne

On a day where the snow was falling early on, Syracuse’s offense was anything but cold. SU defeated crosstown rival Le Moyne 6-0 for the Orange’s third win of the season over the Dolphins. And for sophomore Taylor Davison, it was a special day, as the catcher hit her first career home run.
“It feels great, you know, the first person I looked at rounding third was my mom in the crowd. She had both hands up, and it was just great to see her. My team was super pumped and I was just coming out ready to be super aggressive and hit the ball today.”
Head coach Shannon Doepking: “Yeah it was super cool, right, a kid that hasn’t really been given a lot of opportunities to be able to come up with the big blow for the team, you know, I think she’s done a great job of being a great teammate, waiting for her opportunity.
“I mean I think we were productive, right, I really don’t think we swung it well, right, I think the elements were a lot for us, but I thought what we did well was I thought we were really productive, right, we had some walks, we had some ground balls, we had some runners, right, and I thought we came up with a timely hit here and there, but all-in-all I thought we were really productive with our outs.”
For Syracuse, this was a “get right” game, a win the Orange desperately needed after being swept at home by Clemson this past weekend. And this week, Syracuse gets thrown back into the gauntlet of conference play, hosting North Carolina for a three-game series. First pitch of game one is Friday at 3pm For live updates, you can follow @Cole_Purvis on X for updates.
