SYRACUSE, NY — They say March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb. Well, Syracuse men’s basketball (13-18, 7-13 in ACC) today went inside with Eddie Lampkin and absolutely dominated in an 84-70 win over Virginia (15-16, 8-12 in ACC). After the game, the center said it all came down to his mindset.
“It’s really just being aggressive,” Lampkin said. “I feel like they’re all just little, and that’s how I treated it. I just tried to take advantage of what they were giving me.”
“You know, he’s a big part of what we do,” said head coach Adrian Autry, “so we were going down there regardless. We were working on the trap, so the first couple of times he caught it, he was waiting to see if the defense came with the double, and they didn’t. They switched it up, but I thought we did a really good job of getting to our spots.”
That mindset will come in handy when Syracuse takes on Florida State in the ACC Tournament next Tuesday.
