No. 6 Syracuse Men’s Lacrosse drops a heartbreaker to No. 15 Harvard 15-14

Last season, the faceoff X was one of the most impactful spots on the field for Syracuse Men’s Lacrosse. Fifth year specialist Mason Kohn dominated for the Orange and posted the highest win percentage in five years. Now that Kohn’s gone, SU has to rely on sophomore Johnny Mullen to secure as many possessions as possible. Well today’s against 15th ranked Harvard, Mullen did that, and it still didn’t matter. Syracuse fell 15-14 even with him going 28-31 from X. Head coach Gary Gait said after the game that you can’t just waste those types of special games from your players.

“I thought he was outstanding. A bright spot in today’s game was a dominant at the X and we didn’t take advantage of it so we’ll work on it. Get better taking advantage of those possessions and hope he can continue playing at the high level.”

Despite the loss. Mullen had the best day in his entire career and one of the top performances in program history. The next chance for Syracuse to get back in the win column comes on Saturday when SU takes on Utah. In it’s last contest against Vermont the Utes won just five face offs in the entire contest. Game time from Salt Lake City is set for 2 PM Eastern.
