Syracuse Men’s Basketball ekes out a triple overtime victory against Boston College

Adam Cohen: In the longest game since a six overtime thriller again UConn, Syracuse took down Boston College 95-86. There were a lot of problems, mainly free throw shooting and turnovers, but also some solutions like timely shooting from Chris Bell and rebounding from Eddie Lampkin. As the game ticked longer and longer, coach autry told his team to just relax and stay true to their game.

Adrien Autry: What I told those guys when we were down seven, we don’t need to rush anything. Keep taking our time. We got enough time, all right, you know, a lot of times you see in situations where you get down seven, you know, you start to feel like you need to take a three, you know, something like that. Just said, Hey, keep chipping away at and getting stops. And that’s what we did

Cohen: Staying true to their game was integral for Syracuse, but as was tapping into their aggressiveness, particularly Eddie Lampkin who grabbed 18 rebounds for SU in this one. Postgame, Lampkin spoke about how important it is for him to stay aggressive regardless of his exhaustion.

Eddie Lampkin: I feel like when I’m more aggressive I can help my teammates with things like setting screens giving JJ and JC advantages on ball screens and it starts with just the jump ball after jump ball and I need to be the most physical one on the court at all times

Cohen: It’s been an up and down season for SU, but a triple overtime win has to feel good. The Orange now board a plane down to the sunshine state for a Tuesday night date with Miami. The Canes are a program in flux and it should be a good opportunity for the cuse to get a win. Reporting from the JMA Wireless Dome, I’m Adam Cohen, CitrusTV
