Syracuse Handles Missouri 82-59 in the Emerald Coast Classic
In its first game away from the dome this season, Syracuse women’s basketball kicked off the Emerald Coast Classic in style, defeating Missouri 82-59. But the venue wasn’t the only thing that changed for the Orange. Syracuse got contributions from some unexpected faces.
I saw from her for the last three weeks. She has just surrendered to the process and she just said, I’ll do whatever it takes to help this team be better. And she doesn’t know. I know that kids are struggling. She brings them to her house and she talks to them. She’s from a great pedigree and she understands the assignment. And then when the time came, she was going to be ready.
But Lexi wasn’t the only member of the McNabb family that made a contribution in today’s game. Her mom, Roxie, who starred for this team in the nineties, had high praise for one of her daughter’s teammates. While talking to the head coach Felisha Legette-Jack.
Roxy Nurse McNabb, you know, said to me last night. She said, What are you trying to do? I said. She said Journey is a mini la Felicia game. She’s a she’s tough. She takes open shots. She doesn’t care about credit. She just wants to run and jump in and fly around. And I’m like, I got lucky to get her from Arizona State. And she’s worked her body in great shape. She’s now calmed down and she really trust the process. She is just there’s so much more room for her to even get better.
Thompson logged 14 points while shooting seven of ten from the field. But the work’s not yet done for the cuse the orange take on the winner of this game behind me between Creighton and Wichita State. Tomorrow at 730 in the beach bracket, final reporting from the Emerald Coast Classic Kiran Costa Citrus TV.
