Syracuse Volleyball pulls off a 3-2 reverse sweep against Notre Dame
After dropping the first two sets against Notre Dame, Syracuse Volleyball was nearing a .500 record after beginning the season 12 and 0 in nonconference play. But SU took the third and fourth sets 25-22 and eventually finished things off in the fifth set, winning 15 to 12 and reverse sweeping in a three sets, the two victorys over Notre Dame. After the match, SU head coach Bucha Ganesharatnam along with his players, credited the team’s resilience throughout the entire game.
We were able to stay in this game and to come back and pull out the reverse sweep. I think that’s very hard to do, and it shows the mentality and the commitment the team has. But I think it’s also only possible because of the some, some of the experiences we made in the past that might have not gone our way.
We really want to play for our teammates that, like, couldn’t finish their careers. And that’s really one thing that pushes us when we play games like this, and all our games in general, just to like play for each other, because, like, once we start separating and like playing individually, it that’s when it starts, like, falling apart. So really, just like playing as one and for each other, we have a lot of seniors, grad students, and we’re like, we don’t want to regret anything looking back at this game, like, we want to work as hard as we can to take these next three sets, and that’s what we did after this victory.
Syracuse Volleyball is 14 and 12 on the season, with two wins in ACC play. S u will next travel down south for another match up against a tough ACC opponent in number 16, Georgia Tech. The yellow jackets are 10 and four in conference play this year. First serve of that match is on Friday at five, reporting from the Women’s building.
