Syracuse Ice Hockey takes down Stonehill 4-0

When you think back a decade ago, things that may come to mind would include the 2014 World Cup Pharrell Williams’s hit song Happy, or maybe it’s the last time Syracuse ice hockey won its home opener. That was a 2-1 win over Colgate, and here tonight, it was a 4-0 victory against Stonehill. The only difference between these two squads is that back in 2014 there were seven new additions to the ‘Cuse, and this season, you can double that number and make it 14. Head Coach Britni Smith feels it’s not the new additions that make this squad, however, it’s how much they’ve gelled.
“I think, you know, we have, we have we have a lot of new faces in the locker room, and one of the biggest things for us is that we really didn’t want that to be the narrative for the season. We wanted to come out in our first game and show that we were already united front and we were already ready to start the season running.”
With every bit of young blood, you need some experience to go along with it. That’s exactly what fifth year Tatum white brings to SU the forward scored once today and was on the ice for 75% of Syracuse’s goals. However, White doesn’t want to take all the credit for having experience on the squad.
“I feel like we have a great group of leaders, like just outside myself as well. I think being here for as long as I have it helps set the foundation, but we have a lot of girls that have stepped up”
