No. 7 Syracuse Men’s Soccer Loses in Stunning Fashion to LeMoyne
3..2…1.. When the clock finally hit triple zero at SU Soccer Stadium, the entire crowd erupted, but not for the reason you might think. 7th ranked Syracuse Men’s Soccer lost to LeMoyne 1-0 in a game that will be one of the biggest upsets in the 2024 College soccer season. SU had all the chances it wanted to win this game. The Orange outshot the Dolphins 28-5, including 8-2 in shots on goal. After the game head coach Ian McIntyre and company said the best thing they can do is just move on.
“If it was easy, winning, everyone would do it right?” McIntyre said. “It’s difficult to win soccer matches, that’s just the nature of our [level]. You can be a team that’s on top and we’ve got to take chances. Tonight we weren’t quite strong enough in the final third.”
“We just gotta keep the morale of the team up,” midfielder Elton Chifamba said. “Keep the spirits up, everyone keep your head up. This happens in football, you’re gonna lose matches, you can’t win them all. Tomorrow morning we’ll watch film, see how we can get better, keep the spirits of the team up, and focus on the next game.”
After a loss like that, a goldfish memory is an understatement for what Syracuse will have to have to move on from tonight’s contest and move forward to Friday’s at Boston College. The Orange travel to Chestnut Hill to open the ACC Slate with kickoff set for 7.
