RIT Notches Four Answered To Take Series Opener 4-1 Against Syracuse

With a 0-5-1 record in conference play entering tonight, head coach Britni Smith said it was go time for her squad. The Orange did just that by netting the first goal of the contest. However, RIT collected the next 4 tallies en route to a 4-1 victory tonight. After the game, Smith and her players broke down how this one got away.
“They [RIT] battle hard. We knew that coming in, that was part of our pre-scout, is that they’re a team that works real hard and we had to make sure that we were ready to battle for 60 and I feel like we got opportunities. We had the short-handed crossbar, we had a couple battles right on the top of the crease that we just weren’t able to bury and against a team like that that really battles hard and pushes you outside the dots you just got to find ways to get those in.”
“I think we kind of just took a step back when we needed to keep building forward. We just can’t have that happen tomorrow.”
“I think they just came out harder to play in the second period. I don’t know if they brought their best game in the first and they came out harder and we didn’t come out as hard as we did in the first, so the tables were turned a little bit in that period.”
SU remains in search of that covenant first win in CHA play. The next opportunity for the Orange comes tomorrow once again against the Tigers, but heading west on I-90 to Rochester. Game time is set for 3:00.
