Students Voice Concern at Residence Hall Association Forum | News Live at 6
On Tuesday, the Residence Hall Association held a forum for students to come and share their complaints regarding on-campus housing.
While students shared thoughts about several different topics, one that resonated with many of the participants was problems in the dining halls. Freshman Allison Goel shared that she doesn’t feel like students have the opportunity to communicate with dining hall staff, leaving them feeling “isolated.”
“All students should have a place where they feel like they can eat, and when they don’t, it feels isolating,” Allison said, “and students should not have to feel isolated in the dining hall.”
Students also shared their concerns around the lack of vegan and vegetarian options SU dining halls offer.
RHA president Joel Barnes shared that he plans to begin inviting dining hall staff to the RHA meetings to offer students the opportunity to share their concerns directly.
In addition to dining hall challenges, participants also identified issues with faulty showers in Brewster Hall and lack of access to clean drinking water in Lawrinson.
