Strong Freshmen Play Helps Syracuse Field Hockey Dominate Dartmouth 6-0

For most athletes, the transition to college is not an easy one. The game is faster, the competition is better, and it’s hard to have success. Lana Hamilton is different, though. The freshman scored the first two goals in Syracuse’s 6-0 win over Dartmouth. SU head coach Ange Bradley says it’s her consistency that makes Hamilton so effective.

“She just stayed away from the ball and was where she needed to be to put the simple tap-ins in and it’s incredibly simple and as we know simple is difficult. She was in the right spaces and I’m proud of her for that,” stated Bradley.

“In practice, we’ve been working on a lot of tip-ins and being on post, so I was focusing more on that today than giving a pass myself…I feel like I’ve been coming close in a lot of games to scoring and this was just the game that I put two in. It was really exciting, especially as a freshman, to be able to do that,” explained Lana Hamilton.

Hamilton doubled her season goal total today and now ranks third on the team in points. SU moves to 8-2, with a 4-0 record at home. Syracuse is back here next week to face Boston College at 4 p.m. on Friday.
